Miss Miracle answered my prayers. One downside of the wonderfully relaxed attitude towards life in Thailand, is that sometimes the simplest tasks become quite complex. Finding a good hairdresser & barber in Khao Lak (or Thailand in general), is one of those things.
I am sure I have been to some hairdressers that started their career with the attitude of ‘How hard can it be to cut hair?’. They must just buy a pair of scissors, open up a beauty salon and haphazardly start chopping away. What can go wrong?! My history of haircuts in Thailand are good evidence of when it goes wrong. So, when a new Khao Lak beauty salon opened in 2017, I was naturally skeptical. That was until I met the owner of Miss Miracle.
Who is Miss ‘X’?
There are a few questions you will likely want to ask X when you first meet her. Like ‘where does your name come from?’

The simple answer is that many Thai people often go by the nickname they received as a child. For X, due to a few health issues when she was small, visits to the hospital were the norm and she needed x-rays on a regular basis. So since then, her name has been X.
Life on the farm
The second question may be ‘How did you end up in a Khao Lak salon’? X comes from very humble roots. She grew up on a farm in isaan (North east Thailand) with her family. Money was scarce and producing rice was hard work. Getting into beauty seemed like an unlikely career path.

Thailand’s predominantly Buddhist approach to life has made it a very open-minded and tolerant country. X herself was interested in everything to do with beauty from a very young age. Her slightly apprehensive father took a bit of time to come around. Well, who was going to be able to help him on the farm? But growing rice was never going to be the path she went down. X’s passion lied elsewhere.
A history in Weddings
From the young age of 13, X started helping one of her friends with their local wedding planning and photography company. As a young teenager, X was already learning how to do professional wedding hair styling and makeup.
At only 26, X already has 13 years experience in wedding hair styling!
From that point, life working on the farm in Isaan (North East Thailand) grew further and further away. When X finished school she moved to the bright lights of Bangkok. Finally in 2017 she opened her own beauty salon in the sunny seaside town of Khao Lak.

X and her team are qualified and experienced in everything from eyebrow tattoos and eyelash extensions, to luxury manicures, pedicures and gel nails.
