Khao Lak Wired is a small independent guide to Khao Lak, run by Khuk Khak Design in Khao Lak, Thailand. This page explains what personal data is processed when you use the site and why. We keep it to a minimum: there is no user account, no newsletter sign-up and no analytics or advertising tracking on this site.

Hosting and security
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. When you visit a page, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in order to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks and automated abuse (for example with its bot protection). Cloudflare may process this data outside Thailand. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Contact forms
The site has three contact forms: the general form on the Contact page, and forms on the Khao Lak Vet Clinic and GBS Music Shop pages.
- We ask for your name, email address and message, and use them only to answer your enquiry.
- Messages from the general form go to Khao Lak Wired. Messages from the Vet Clinic or GBS Music Shop forms go directly to that business, with a copy to Khao Lak Wired, so they can reply to you.
- Messages are sent by email through our mail provider Migadu (Switzerland) and kept in our mailbox only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
- To stop spam, the forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks whether the visitor is a person. Turnstile processes technical data about your browser and device for this check. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy notice.
Booking widgets and affiliate links
Some pages show booking widgets or links from Viator and GetYourGuide, for example for the Riverside Thai Cooking class and Similan Islands tours. The widgets are loaded from Viator's and GetYourGuide's own servers when you scroll to them. These providers receive technical data such as your IP address and may set cookies, including cookies that record that you came from Khao Lak Wired so we can receive a commission if you book. We don't receive any personal data about you from them, only commission reports.
Viator and GetYourGuide explain how they use this data in the privacy policies linked at the foot of their websites (viator.com, getyourguide.com). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Booking direct with a business (for example on the Riverside Thai Cooking website) does not involve these providers.
Embedded videos and maps
- YouTube: some articles embed YouTube videos in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Video thumbnails on some pages are loaded from YouTube's image servers. When you play a video, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and process data about your viewing.
- Google Maps: some pages embed a Google Map or link to Google Maps. When an embedded map loads, Google receives your IP address and may set cookies.
- Fonts: the site uses the Open Sans font loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address.
Links to other websites
Articles link to businesses, tour operators and other websites. We are not responsible for how those websites handle your data, so please check their own privacy information.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what personal data we hold about you (in practice, only emails you have sent us), and ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected].

We will update this page when we add or remove a service. The date at the top shows the latest version.
