Koh Prathong is the ninth largest island in Thailand. It lies at 9.08ºN 98.28ºE approximately 50km north from Khao Lak (straight line distance) in Kura Buri District. It covers and area of 88km² and measures 15km from north to south and is 9km at its widest points west to east.

I arrived in Thailand just over ten years ago. My plan was to complete my Divemaster course and work in the scuba diving industry at the Similan Islands. Little did I know at the time that my arrival in Thailand would always be marked by the Indian Ocean Tsunami, 26th December 2004.

Khao Lak is ideally located on the Andaman coast for both land tours and diving trips out to sea. Situated between Phuket and Khao Sok, it is a great place to base yourself for visiting some of the best dive sites that Thailand has to offer.
