Koh Prathong is the ninth largest island in Thailand. It lies at 9.08ºN 98.28ºE approximately 50km north from Khao Lak (straight line distance) in Kura Buri District. It covers and area of 88km² and measures 15km from north to south and is 9km at its widest points west to east.

In Gallery on the Bang Niang Beach Road

In Gallery is the dream of Thai artist Inplaeng Fansai. The gallery came to life two years ago when he moved from Krabi to Khao Lak to achieve his dream. Inplaneg or In as everyone calls him, is originally for the north of Thailand, Nong Khai and learnt to paint while living and working on Koh Samui. In hasn’t gone to university but instead, with a passion to paint, learnt from experience and is now a very accomplished artist with a number of exhibitions already under his belt.

Waiting for the Rainy Season

As Khao Lak's high season comes to an end the local weather and climate remains very reminiscent of the high season. The latter half of May and early June are usually unpredictable times as the monsoon winds change direction, bringing with it heavy rain often with thunder storms. As Khao Lak becomes quieter and quieter we are still enjoying plenty of days of sunshine, blue skies and a scattering of high, white fluffy clouds. It has also been incredibly hot. With the rainy season holding off, Thailand's hot season continues in Khao Lak.

Dr. Jeerawat Kaewruechai or Dr Sam as he is more commonly known, runs the Khao Lak Vet Clinic. Dr Sam takes care of Khao Lak's sick or injured pets and livestock for his living. In his free time, when he has finished taking care of everyone's beloved cats and dogs he likes nothing more than to take care of Khao Lak's unloved, unwanted cats and dogs.
